STUDENT ASSISTANTS Contact the student assistant on-call
by cell phone 24 hours a day. THE ROLE OF THE S.A.: Student assistants are there to discuss the options available to survivors of sexual assault/rape on Haverford's campus. S.A.'s will not pressure anyone into a specific course of action. It is important to remember that the S.A.'s are support people, not counselors, and thus are unable to provide long-term counseling by virtue of their training and their personal responsibilities as students. CONFIDENTIALITY: Calls to student assistants are confidential; they are not, however, completely anonymous. When an S.A. gets a call, she must report to Marilou Allen that she received the call. Marilou will inform Tom King, director of Safety and Security. No kind of action will be pursued without the survivor's initiation. At the survivor's request, no identifying details need be shared with Marilou Allen. TRAINING: Student assistants are trained with Haverford College Psychological Services, Health Services, and Safety and Security; Women Against Rape of Delaware County; Haverford Township and Lower Merion Township Police; Haverford Mercy Hospital; and Bryn Mawr Hospital.
