What is QuaC?

QuaC is the Bi-College Quaker student group. It is a re-structured version of QuAAC, the old Quaker Actions and Activities Committee and has been, and continues to be open to all students, regardless of religous or spiritual affiliation. About half of regular attendees at QuaC events identify as Quaker, and the other half are people with an interest in Quakerism.

Mission Statement:

The mission of “QuaC” is to support interest in Quakerism, coordinate Quaker activities, and nurture Quaker community. We seek to create an environment that is welcoming to Quakers and non-Quakers alike and that values participation at all levels. We aim to nurture each other and, as a spiritual community, we will answer one another’s calls for support. We strive to encourage the formation of a deeper Quaker community on campus, while maintaining present activities and allowing for the development of new endeavors. We will promote fellowship, communication, community building, service, and representations of faith among Quakers on campus.

Our Structure:

We will have a business meeting once a month that will serve as a space for communication between members, and to facilitate interaction between committees. A team of clerks will support the group in realizing its mission by distributing responsibility and centralizing information.

Regular Events:

- Semi-weekly potlucks:

Student potlucks will continue to be held on every-other Thursday @ 7pm--bring some food to share, bring a friend, and come hang out and spend some time with good folk!

- Weekly Sunday worship:

Weekly student-run silent worship is held in the James House common room at 1pm on Sunday afternoon. Join us!

- Community Potlucks:

Last semester we held our first potluck open to community members from Haverford Friends Meeting and members of QuaC. Potlucks were held on a monthly basis and announced over our list-serve. We will be holding similar events during the spring semester. Potlucks are on Sunday evening from 6pm - 8pm, Quaker and Quaker-affiliated folk of all ages are all welcome to come to the Multi-Cultural Center (Stokes 106) for dinner and time to get to know one another. Please bring a dish to share, and anyone you think may be interested too! For more information please contact the clerks.

QuaC is a part of the process of recasting the goals and visions of Quaker student community and activities on campus. This webpage was created in an effort to organize said process.
