The Mission M.A.S.A.R. (pronounced "maze-ar")
is an all-male activist group at Haverford College which is dedicated
to promoting awareness of rape as men's issue. Our work concentrates
on educating men on campus about how they can be a part of the anti-rape
movement. We also work with the women's groups on-campus, coordinate
with the administration to address issues surrounding rape and sexual
assault, and make an effort to expand our educational campaigns
beyond Haverford's boundaries. Steering Committee The Steering Committee is the body that
runs the group. The group is volunteer only and meets at most a
few times a month to discuss our activities. This group coordinates
the on-going educational campaigns and the various public events
we co-sponsor. Mailing List The M.A.S.A.R. (e)mailing list is an
opt-in list of individuals (both men and women, both at Haverford
and outside of the College) to whom we send periodic information
concerning our activities, campaigns, etc. Founding Founded in the fall of 1998 by Tim Harger '99, Mike Shipler '99 and Aaron Clauset '01 as an all-male anti-rape activist group. Now we are a concerned group of men seeking to not just 'be' anti-rape, but to 'do' anti-rape. Much of our growth is owed to the work of a few individuals and to positive relationships with brother and sister organizations such as Men Can Stop Rape in Washington D.C., S.A.R.S.E. at Haverford College, and the Rape Awareness Project (R.A.P.) at Bryn Mawr College. |
