II.     General Discussions del Día
Council held its mediation/diversity training this past weekend.  In general, we had a fun & beneficial time!  Look for a ‘publication’ next semester of things that were covered.  There is some excellent information to be had by all…
We started today with our esteemed guest’s thoughts concerning Admissions and tours/tour guides.  Ari suggested that any concerned Council members with thoughts regarding these issues should contact Craig Dorfman with thoughts regarding these issues should contact Craig Dorfman.  Tour guides are asked to mention and/or discuss the Honor Code in their tours for prospective students and their families.  A thought was raised that perhaps there could be some kind of “outline” of some Code issues so that the tour guides have something to go off.  Someone suggested that an Honor Council member or two could talk to new tour guides about some Code basics.  Jenn said that she thought there should be a stronger emphasis placed on the Code during Spec Weekend – maybe a student panel regarding the Code, even having HCOs involved in some capacity.  If you have any thoughts on Admissions and the Honor Code, please feel free to contact one of us.
Debbie suggested that Council find one more thing to do this semester – something visible that will make a difference or just make people more aware of the Code.  Council decided that while we are tabling with our cheating surveys, we will also have signups for a mock trial to be held on December 5 at 2.00 PM, most likely in the Smith Room of the Dining Center.  This will potentially involve twelve people and provides an opportunity for people to see how a trial works, since the majority of students are never able to serve on a jury.  (This is the same case that was used last year, if by any chance you have already done it.)  If you think you are interested as you sit here reading this, please email ccostell (Caitlin) or cmoore (Celeste).
Speaking as a representative of the Academic Computing Committee, Terry mentioned concerns that have been raised about software piracy on campus.  We will be discussing this further, but initially Ben thought that it might be an overburdening of the Code to start addressing this as Council.

III.     Moment of Silence

Again, fresh out of space.   These minutes are not necessarily the views of Haverford College.  From Bits & Pieces: As a nation, we are dedicated to keeping physically fit – and parking as close to the stadium as possible.  No minutes next week.  Lo siento mucho.  Have a good Thanksgiving/Novemberesque Break.
