II.     ¡General Discussions!
This past week Maura & Scott spoke with Sunni Green Tolbert, the Dean of Multicultural Affairs, about diversity training for Honor Council.  Sunni is excited to help Council out with this – we’ll also be in touch with Jonathan Snipes about mediation training.
Mike R. informed us that the new heads for HCO Committee have been selected, which means he & Kaley will be relinquishing command.  This time around, it will be Lisa Berenson and Marika Athens!  Please watch for information as it becomes available.
On Wednesday, November 3 at 9.00 PM, a town meeting on Alcohol will be held in Marshall Auditorium!  There will be a number of speakers, including professors Lou Outlaw, Doug Davis, and Ed Sikov, with Bill Dawe as mediator for discussion.  This will be an extremely important discussion, so please mark your calendars.
Much discussion has arisen lately on cheating at Haverford and how it concerns the Honor Code.  We have decided that we will indeed send a survey out to the Community to see how exactly cheating exists at Haverford.  The surveys will be tallied by class and will deal also with how students perceive cheating in others.  Discussing the survey raised several issues about cheating itself and how certain aspects of Haverford seem to be changing.  Scott says that he has noticed that people seem to talk more openly about grades, and it seemed that several had noticed that trend.  Debbie said that she had heard underclassmen say that they believe that there is rampant cheating in classes here.  Maura said that we will probably be surprised either way the survey falls – either very negatively or very positively.
In light of the weekend and the upcoming town meeting on alcohol (refer to note above!), Council discussed at length issues revolving around this issue.  Concerns were raised about how often the Party Guidelines are followed.  Someone shared the point that when an alcohol incident occurs, it is often because of heavy pre-partying, rather than consumption of beer at the party.  Many of these problems/points will hopefully be discussed on Wednesday night and then acted upon thereafter.

IV.   Moment of Silence

These minutes do not necessarily reflect the views of Haverford College but rather just the opinions of Council members transcribed through one M. Scott Burau, Okie-at-heart.  Oops, we’re out of room.  See you on Wednesday night.  And, of course, don’t forget that November 5 is Guy Fawkes Day.
