II. General Discussions
To start things off, Mike R. mentioned that the HCO Committee would be forming up shortly and suggested that people think about joining up this year. In addition to his recommendation, he also shared a brief history of the HCO program. You should ask him sometime… it’s a moving story of motivation, honesty, and one Committee’s will to bring the Honor Code to frosh in need. Coming soon to a theater near you.
This is for real, folks: the Practical Guide to the Honor Code is going to Central Services and will be distributed to the student body this week! So please be on the look out for that helpful piece of work!
Reminder of the Rachel & Monica Abstract Discussion to be held at 10:15 PM in Dining Center 003 on Wednesday, October 27! Please take some time to share your thoughts on this academic case!
The abstract binder is indeed coming along. There have been several interesting documents found within, including the “1982 Report on the Honor Code”. This proves to be an interesting read – once the binder is compiled, take a look at it!
The idea of presenting a brief survey to the Community concerning the Honor Code and its relation with student life and academics was raised. There is a possibility of an online survey, or perhaps we’ll just go with some good ol’ tabling and paper.
Jenn raised a thought about forming a small committee that would deal with Council/club relations, depending on the response we receive concerning this collaboration. A committee could then deal directly with this issue and effort.
Jenn also raised the idea of having some kind of participation from Council during the various Spec weekends, dealing with student life and how the Code works into that. Mike R. suggested that HCOs take part in that also, since they do have the I’m-actively-engaging-the-Code aura about them. Council agreed with this thought, concurring that the HCOs do have the most visible influence on the frosh for their first engagement with the Code.III. Confidential Portion
IV. Moment of Silence
Primero, these minutes do not necessarily represent the views of Haverford College, 370 Lancaster Ave. Secondly, there’s no room here. Infernal margins. What ever happened to the old days of paper with no boundaries? You’re writing along, you’re writing along – “dream on” says the 8.5” by 11” devil. What a way to ruin a day. Have a great week, folks.
