II. General Discussions
Honor Council members are continuing work on specific projects. Terry has been updating the Honor Council web page, and he asks any community members who have suggestions to please come forward. Karen attended the Thursday JSAAPP meeting, where the goals and activities of the organization were discussed. Zack First is currently obtaining a national survey about alcohol to be administered here, with results published in the Bi-Co.
Maura raised the issue of faculty relations concerning Honor Council and the Code. Some ideas were tossed about on how to improve faculty awareness of Code-related issues, one of which was a sort of new/old faculty “mentoring program”. If you have any incredible ideas that would facilitate this effort, please contact Honor Council. Lucy asked about an endeavor possibly never pursued concerning specific academic departments releasing information on their own special relation to the Code.
Council spent a good deal of time in today’s meeting discussing issues revolving around alcohol. Maura & Scott attended a meeting late last week concerning alcohol usage and issues, and several ideas were presented today. One upcoming event concerning these issues is an Alcohol Awareness Collection, to take place on Monday, October 4 in Stokes Auditorium at 6:30 PM. Jenn suggested holding an HC-sponsored discussion on alcohol, perhaps speaking with JSAAPP to make it more beneficial and productive for the Community. While on the topic, the alcohol policy will be up for re-ratification thisSUNDAY, OCTOBER 3 AT 7:30 PM FOR PLENARY! Doors will open at 7:00 PM, so please keep your schedules open and plan to attend! Remember, there is pro/con debate, so hopefully there will be some of this revolving around the alcohol policy in light of recent events & discussions on campus. If you want to talk more about this or any other issue, please contact a Council member.
This is a reminder that Council meetings begin at 5:00 PM every Sunday, and the Community is welcome to attend the public portion whenever they would like. If there will be a massive group of you, please contact Maura and let her know a # approximately.III. Confidential Portion
IV. Moment of Silence
There’s no room for anything profound this week. Just scoot along.
