II. Updates / Committees
The Admissions gang will be meeting with those folks – on and off Council – that believe there should be some modification to the current question on the Haverford application about the Honor Code. An e-mail was sent at the beginning of the semester encouraging folks to share their thoughts on the current question; those answers will be a starting point.
The mock trial will indeed be taking place on the night of Wednesday, April 12th. It will start around 9:30 and go from there. A final time will be announced. Look for folks tabling in the Dining Center this Wednesday through Friday. You can ask questions about the trial in general or sign up if you so desire. Contact Sarah Domby (sdomby) with any questions about this one.
Ranen told us that he has been sending these wonderful minutes to department heads so that the faculty can see what their students are doing on Council. He said that we should encourage professors to mention Plenary and the Code in classes because it gives an important view and one that is often helpful to students.
On a non-Council note concerning committees, Lucy reminded us that the Customs diversity training will take place this weekend.
III. Plenary
Information / Discussion
Jenn took the liberty of explaining the collecting & counting process that will take place at Plenary. With the plan we’re looking at, we need all the help we can get. If you would like to help in some capacity, please contact us! We need ballot collectors, door guards, and other random types of assistance. If you can do anything at all, let us know. We’re looking to have an efficient Plenary with minimal sitting-around time. By the way, if you have any large spare cardboard boxes sitting around, please contact Audrey.
Lucy informed us that there will be
Plenary discussions over dinner every night this week in the Sunken Lounge. Drop in and share your thoughts about
Plenary and the Code in these informal meetings. If you have questions about this, e-mail sc@haverford.edu.
Ranen and Scott read their letter to Council concerning their plan to change the agenda so that the Honor Code comes first at Plenary. They explained that this will only happen if more resolutions are not withdrawn. Someone mentioned that people will leave the field house right after the Code is passed, but Audrey said that it doesn’t seem in the spirit of the Code to “strongarm” people into staying just to vote on the Code at the end. It is detailed in the letter, but Ranen said that in general the resolutions on the table do not fix problems that people had at Spring Plenary – so then, he argues, they should not be presented at this Plenary. Look for this letter on the Comment Board and various other locations. They encourage folks to contact them.

VI. Moment of Silence
These
minutes do not necessarily reflect the views of Haverford College. If you have any questions about their
content, form, or degree of difficulty, please contact me or you. Ha ha ha ha. “What’s that you say?”
Well, that’s the fun of it I suppose.
